The other knowles.

Solange-NY-mag

Everybody knows Beyonce Knowles. Beyonce, Queen Bey, Jay Z’s Wife, whichever you prefer. She is so fabulous that Beyonce that we all try to dance like her—but, you know. We could talk about Beyonce all day, I know. But did you know that her sister Solange Knowles has an album or two?! Her newest EP, True, is not fierce like Beyonce’s 4, but it’s cool. Its vibe-y.
Plus, she dresses so cool:

Royals.

Okay. Is there anyone who isn’t in love with this song?

Aside from the sheer genius of the song, did you notice anything? Anything at all. It seems that New Zealand Singer-Songwriter Lorde is giving us a trend alert or two:

1. Borrow One of 2 Chainz‘ Chains

You can find a chain at Nordstrom BP.

2. White and Gold Will Make You Royal

I’m loving these trends. How about you?

Zendaya.

Have you heard Zendaya‘s  new self-titled album yet? I’ve been listening to it on replay (you’ll get it in a minute!)

Check out the acoustic version of one of my favorite songs on the album, Replay:

Go girl!  Okay, now a lesson in werk from this pro. Her style is the perfect mix of cool with a definite hip-hop influence and girly with a glamorous vibe. Love love love this girl’s style!

Rita Ora.

Today’s lesson in werk will be taught by Rita Ora, a singer-songwriter reigning from the UK who was most recently in the news for an early morning fast-food run with our fave supermodel, Cara Delevingne. In my mind, though, this girl is all about her fashion. She’s our resident risk-taker. Don’t know what I mean? Take a look:

This girl just wears what she’s wearing. And it works. And she werks. Do you love Rita Ora’s style? What about her song, “Shine Ya Light”?

What do you think? I’d love to hear from you!

Little mix.

A while back at Teen Vogue‘s Back-to-School Saturday at the Grove, British girl-band Little Mix performed one of their singles, Wings. Check it out:

Don’t you love their style? They’re all about bold, graphic prints worn in new ways ( I especially love Leigh-Anne‘s top). Oh, and no big deal, there’s just a full-blown fashion show going on during their performance. Love it!

Sealion.

Designer Katie Chick werked it out at the FIDM Debut Runway show last spring. I was able to attend the show and this was one of the most striking and cool collections, from the music, Fiest‘s Sealion—to the background, and of course, the clothing.

(Was she way ahead of the trend with the Mykonos-inspired collection, or what?) I would love to wear that crop top outfit.

All star.

Few shoes are as classic as Converse Chuck Taylor’s. I’ve been wearing them since I was five years old. I have the low style too but It’s all about the  high tops. I don’t know if it’s just in my head but my white high tops actually make me feel taller.  Anyway, these shoes are great because you can wear them with pretty much anything. Here’s the world from the view of a high top shoe:

I got a new rug and I absolutely love it, so do my Chuck Taylor’s.
