Rick Owens, the “American in Paris,” is a known rule-breaker if you couldn’t tell. He took rule-breaking a step further at this season’s Paris Fashion Week (which is characteristically the most theatrical of fashion weeks around the globe), and he threw the conventions of a normal runway show out the window. Models became step teams, walking the runway became percussive dance, and a group of young, mostly black women set out to redefine beauty:
